Vermiculite
Like
most other industrial minerals, vermiculite is a member of aluminum
silicate mineral family. When vermiculite is rapidly heated to a high
temperature, it exfoliates 15 - 20 times bigger in volume, and its
shape looks like an accordion (so the mineral is named). Exfoliated vermiculite is lightweight. It has good properties
of absorption, insulation and fire resistance.
